Board-Level Finance Director, CFO & NED Services In Maidenhead

Part-time board-level advisors who work as part of your management team

Secantor works with owner-managed businesses in Maidenhead and east Berkshire, providing part-time Finance Directors, CFOs, Non-Executive Directors, Operations Directors and Management Accountants. Each advisor sits inside your management team for as many days as the business can use, so you get board-level experience without taking on a full-time executive.

We visit businesses in Maidenhead, Cookham, Bray, Taplow, Bourne End, Holyport, Windsor and Slough, and across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey.

What Does Board-Level Support Mean For An Owner-Managed Business In Maidenhead?

In Maidenhead, Secantor's board-level support means an experienced Finance Director, CFO, Non-Executive Director, Operations Director or Management Accountant takes over the senior work the owner has outgrown, alongside you and for as many days as the business needs.

In practice the work covers five things:

  • Planning. A budget and forecast the board can steer by.
  • Cash. Control of cash day to day and a credible story for the bank.
  • Numbers. Monthly reporting and KPIs explained in plain terms.
  • Challenge. An independent view of the big decisions before they are made.
  • Delivery. Clear roles and targets, so plans become results.

Maidenhead sits on the M4 and the Elizabeth line, so owner-managed businesses here compete with London for customers and for talent. Part-time senior support gives them the leadership of a larger business without the salary.

Which Board-Level Roles Suit Maidenhead Businesses?

The right role depends on the problem you want solved first. Four situations are common.

If a Finance Director leaves or a deal lands suddenly, an Interim Finance Director or Interim CFO can start at short notice. Fractional vs Part-Time vs Interim CFO compares the models.

How Does Secantor Work With Maidenhead Businesses?

Secantor begins with a visit to your premises, to hear how the business runs, where it is under strain and what you want from the next few years, and then proposes the advisor who suits you and your people.

We can introduce the banks, lenders, law firms and accountants we work with across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. If you would like an independent check of the business first, our Strategic Business Review is the place to start.

How Have We Helped Owner-Managed Businesses Like Yours?

From a sudden collapse in trade to a business plan the bank backed

A long-established, family-run engineering manufacturer had been strong and profitable until a sudden fall in demand in its main market halved its revenue.

A Secantor Non-Executive Director guided the management team through immediate action to protect the business: tight cash management and forecasting, close control of debtors and creditors, a rewritten financial forecast and a cost reduction plan. A strategic review then led to a plan to right-size the business: revised forecasts for worst and realistic cases, margin analysis to target better work, a move to smaller premises saving around £400,000 a year, and the sale of machinery to raise £300,000 as production partly moved outside.

The bank backed the plan and the management team with a second loan, its relationship manager calling it one of the best business plans it had seen. The financial model shows the smaller business making more profit than it did on twice the revenue, and Secantor's Non-Executive Director remains part of the management team.

What Do Maidenhead Business Owners Ask About Board-Level Support?

Do you also work with businesses in Windsor, Slough and outside Maidenhead town?

Yes. We visit businesses in Windsor, Slough, Cookham, Bray, Taplow, Bourne End and Holyport, and across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey.

How much does board-level support cost?

Finance Director, CFO and Non-Executive Director support from Secantor costs £1,200 a day plus VAT and expenses, and many businesses start with two to four days a month. Our cost guide has the detail.

Which role should we start with?

Start with the problem that hurts most. Unreliable numbers point to a Management Accountant or Finance Director. A funding decision, a plan or a sale points to a CFO. A board that needs challenge points to a Non-Executive Director.

Do you provide bookkeeping?

No. Bookkeeping stays with your bookkeeper or accountant, and Secantor works above them.

What happens at the first meeting?

We visit, listen to the story of the business and then give you an independent view and a recommendation, with no obligation.
